What should we do?
- To be raised
- To lift up
- To ascend
- To glorify
Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” Psalm 46:10
For you, O Lord, are most high over all the earth; you are exalted far above all gods. Psalm 97:9
Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at his holy mountain; for the Lord our God is holy! Psalm 99:9
Who should exalt whom? All creation (which includes every human being) is created for the sole purpose of exalting (giving glory to) God.
- To build up
And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, 14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes. Ephesians 4:11-14
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11
Who should edify whom? Christians are commanded by God and are given the mind of Jesus Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit to edify Christians.
- To tell the good news
And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-20
As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry. 2 Timothy 4:5
Who should evangelize whom? Christians are commanded by God and given the love of Jesus Christ and the power and knowledge of the Holy Spirit to evangelize all who are not Christians.
What are all Christians to do?
